Description: Eleven lucky members of the Japanese public were recently selected as winners in a National Geographic Channel / FOX Japan promotion and were given a rare firsthand chance to experience life on a U.S. Army base. The promotion was part of a month-long programming special focused on the military. During the tour of Camp Zama, the special visitors were able to meet with base leaders, get a close up view of a Blackhawk helicopter, watch a live demonstration of military working dogs, and enjoy a Meal-Ready-To-Eat (MRE) for lunch. Each visitor was also presented with a Stars and Stripes unit coin by Col. Perry Helton, Garrison Commander, U.S. Army Garrison Japan, to commemorate their visit. A special feature on the visit will air on the National Geographic Channel and also on FOX Backstage Pass programs in Japan in October 2009. Photos by Darian Wilson.
